Gaylin V. Hicks, age 70, of Council Bluffs, passed away May 7, 2024 at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gaylin was born December 7, 1953 in Council Bluffs to the late Merlin and Margaret (Tripp) Hicks. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1972. Gaylin married Christine Thomas on September 4, 1976 in Council Bluffs. They were blessed with three children, Jason, Aaron and Rachel. Gaylin worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 39 years.
In addition to his parents, Gaylin was preceded in death by his sons, Jason and Aaron Hicks and sister, Leora Pedersen.
Gaylin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Chris Hicks of Council Bluffs; daughter, Rachel (Terry) Wellman of Neola, IA; grandchildren, Jerica Doty, Mya Doty, and Madelyn Claar, great-grandson, Sage; brothers, Jim Legge, Gene Hicks; sister, Doris Hough; nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family, Monday, 4-8 p.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. The family will direct memorial contributions.
