Graduation Year Class of 1961
Date of Passing Aug 04, 2021
About Larry Morse was born On November 17,1941 to Clell and Avis (Ely) Morse in a farm home in Oldfield, Missouri. At the age of 4, he moved with this family to Council Bluffs, where he completed school, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1961. While in school he participated in football, basketball and track. He was an active member of the First Christian Church and regularly ushered. It was because of his love for his church that his parents began attending.

Larry married his high school sweetheart, Mary Boyer in 1961 and to this union his daughter Lorie was born. Larry assumed the role of being a single parent after Mary died in 1977. He later experienced two unsuccessful marriages. In 2008 he met Judy Nissen on Match.com. He proposed and Judy was his fiancé until he died.

Larry worked at a variety of jobs in Council Bluffs beginning his career with Amoco Oil in 1973 as a dispatcher and truck driver. In 1981 he moved to Sioux Falls and continued with Amoco, serving as a terminal operator and then manager until 1999. Over the years Larry also worked for HyVee food stores, drove school bus (which he dearly loved) and provided transportation for Dow Rummel Village until he retired in 2018.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls where he enjoyed many friendships. Although Larry experienced many health challenges in the last few year, he always enjoyed being with others, traveling and spending time with family.

Grateful for having shared his life are his fiancé, Judy Nissen of Sioux Falls; daughter, Lorie (Richard) Carter of West Des Moines, IA; three grandchildren, Jackson, Michael, and Michele; and one great-grandchild, Brantley.

Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; parents, Clell and Avis; brothers, Robert, Bruce, and Charles; sisters, Phyliss, Marylin, Maxine, and Shirley; and brother-in-law, Dale Gordon.
