She attended college at Bellevue University and was currently a supervisor with the Iowa Department of Human Services. Kara is survived by her daughters, Madison Nickels and Shae Nickels; the girls father, Michael Nickels; mother, Barbara Ellis; father, Alan Ellis (Tedette); grandmother, Arlene Betts; siblings, Kevin Ellis, Brandi Luther (Joe), Ashley Ellis, Lynsi Ellis, Shawn Ellis, Katelyn Ellis, Shalynn Ellis; step-siblings, Erin McQuinn (Chris) and Josh Horner (Catie); niece, Alexis Ellis; nephew, Brendan Ellis; special extended family, Lori Ellis; a host of other family and friends. Visitation is 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Friday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The family will direct memorials.
