Nathan Olivarez
Class of 2009
Air Force, 5 Years
Born in McAllen on July 12, 1991, Nathan was a 2009 graduate of The Science Academy of South Texas. He continued his education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Computer Engineering, and was a recipient of the Salisbury prize, awarded to the top two percent of the WPI graduating class. He was an Air Force ROTC Distinguished Graduate, and commissioned into the US Air Force on May 11, 2013.
Captain Olivarez was initially assigned to Los Angeles AFB, California, as an Avionics Engineer for the Delta IV rocket and a Missions Analyst Engineer for the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle Program from July 2013 to June 2016. During this time, he was integral to the launch of nine satellites in support of operations across the globe. Captain Olivarez's next assignment took him to Goodfellow AFB, in San Angelo, TX., where he attended the Basic Intelligence Officer Course. Upon graduating technical training, in January 2017, he was assigned to Davis-Monthan AFB as an EC-130H Intelligence Officer at the 755th Operations Support Squadron. During this time he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. His team was recognized as the 55th Wing's Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Unit of the Year.
