Bob and I were friends at TN. Later on, in 1979, I ran into him at the Enlisted Club at the Norfolk Naval Base in Norfolk, Virginia. Neither of us had known that we had joined the Navy within a few weeks of each other. We found out that we were on the dame ship. We had each been onboard for about six months but had not run into each other on the ship. Since we were on an aircraft carrier, It was not surprising. On introduced me to all his buddies who he worked with in the bomb shop,where he was known as “Fibber” McGee.

We had a lot of great times in Norfolk and then when the ship deployed to the Mediterranean for 8 months in August 1980 to March 1981. I will always remember the great times we had back then.
