Enlisted as a guaranteed Dedicated Crew Chief on the F-4E Phantom Fighter Jet after successful completion of Entry Exams
- Because of already having civilian FAA Pilot Credentials, combined with completing The US Air Force School of Applied Aerospace Sciences on Aircrew Checklists, Aircraft Systems, Cockpit Familiarization & Egress, Advanced TISEO & Fighter Weapons Schools was promoted to "Elite Flight Privileges Status" during our Vietnam conflict. All of the above resulted in a 47 year Flying Career as an Airline Captain & Pilot Instructor / Evaluator with The American Airlines Group - Like the late / great Jimmy Buffet sang: "...We'll barrel roll into the sun, just for starters!..."

Served in Paris and Brussels 1966-69 in support of NATO. In Waikiki 1971-74 at the R&R Center. US Embassy in Beirut 1974-75 (evacuated due to the war). Arizona 1976-80. Osan, Korea 1980-81. Last assignment was as Budget Officer for NATO HQ in Brussels, 1982 till retirement in 1988. Then served 20 years in Civil Service with the Dept of Defense, including the last 17 in the Pentagon. (My wife Candye and I were both there when the plane hit on 9/11 2001). Retired for good August 1, 2008 as Asst Director for Program/Budget, supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense and related Defense programs and organizations with approximately $16 Billion annually.

Participated in Desert Shield/Desert Storm with 101st Airborne Division in Sept 1990-April 1991. Participated in the Bosnia conflict in 1996 & 2000. Retired from the Army in 2002. Currently serves the military in a troop support capacity. Has spent 4-9 months a year for the last 5 yrs in Iraq and is currently serving in Afghanistan.
