First 4 years active duty in SAC (Strategic Air Command) at Little Ropck Air Force Base AR. Was a Combat Crew Member pulling Strategic Alerts at missile silos across northern Arkansas. Left active duty in 1980 and joined the Ohio Air National Guard as an avionics technician working on A-7D Corsair II. Spent 7 years with the 180th TFG at Toledo Express Airport. Moved to Wisconsin and transferred to the Wisconsin Air National Guard. At that time I worked on the A-10 Thunderbolt II in the 128th TFG. After about 5 years we changed air frames and I worked on F-16C/D Fighting Falcons until my retirement in 2010. All told 34 years service, 4 trips to the Middle East and numerous trips around the US and overseas for training.

Lt. Col. Michael D. Freestone

Air Force, 20+ Years
Lt. Col. Michael D. Freestone graduated from Swanton High School in 1984 and went on to Bowling Green State University where he joined the ROTC program. He has since served 20 years in the United States Air Force including time spent in Kuitar and Saudi Arabia. He is currently stationed in New Mexico and is planning for retirement in early 2009 at which time he is planning to move his wife and three children back home (Swanton)! His family is very proud of him.

He is a Combat Medic currently stationed with the 5th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armor Division, in Fort Bliss, TX. He is a part of a special unit in the Army called the Army Evaluation Task Force. The role of this unit is to test new and futuristic weapons and combat vehicles.
