| About Me | Husband to Carol Papinchak for 38 years, father to Katie Watt (33) and Susan Krissel (30) and grandfather to Amelia Quinn Jones and Oliver Skye Jones (children of Susan Krissel and Stephen Jones). After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, I worked 8 years as a social service worker in Philadelphia. I immediately joined the union (SEIU) and became a union officer during those years, then held a variety of full time union elected officer and staff positions for nearly another 30 years, finishing in the western region for the national AFL-CIO. We have lived in Oregon for 21 years. We even lived in Utah for a year for one of my union stints. I am a proud union member with a union pension that allowed me to finish my master's degree and go out on my own as an independent Organization Development Consultant in 2006. I am still doing that, though working less and retiring more. We love to travel and we spend almost 25 weeks away from home each year on both nearby, and far away vacations, and visiting our daughters and grandchildren, one in Colorado and one in Connecticut. I spend a lot of time working as an ally with people of color fighting for racial justice in Oregon. I haven't tooted on a clarinet since high school, but I still pick at the guitar, bang on the piano, and pluck a ukulele. And I grow a mean tomato or two.
