Ann McGillicuddy-De Lisi, of the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township and Beach Haven Crest, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the age of 66.
She received an A.B. degree in psychology from the University of Rochester and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the Catholic University of America, where she met her beloved husband and life partner, Richard De Lisi.
Her successful career included positions at Educational Testing Service, William Paterson University and Lafayette College. At Lafayette, she was a valued professor for 26 years, winning multiple awards for excellence in teaching.
Mrs. McGillicuddy-De Lisi made significant contributions to the field of developmental psychology. She authored more than 40 books, book chapters and journal articles, and served as the editor of the Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology.
She was a staunch advocate for women and equality.
At home, she enjoyed running, yoga and gardening, and especially treasured her time at Long Beach Island with her family and friends.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Richard; her three sons, Brian, Michael and Alex; daughters-in-law Kate De Lisi and Alison Spiegel; and her grandchildren, Abigail and Keegan.
The second of six children, she is also survived by her siblings, Allyn, Audry, John and Carole McGillicuddy.
She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
