Frank Wallace Frier, 77, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson City.
He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Larned to John Henry and Ada (Wallace) Frier. A longtime resident of Johnson City, he was a 1944 graduate of Johnson High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On March 15, 1958, he married Betty Jean Quattlebaum in Wichita. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3684, First United Methodist Church in Johnson City, the Dodge City Moose Lodge and the Garden City Elks Lodge. He also worked at Golden Rule in Johnson City since 1980, doing maintenance and custodial work.
He is survived by his wife; a brother, John Elwin Frier, Chula Vista, Calif.; a sister, Emily Wartman, Johnson City; and a several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Johnson City with the Revs. Glenn Fogo and Dave Kaufmann officiating.
Internment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson County, with military rites by VFW Post 3684.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the new Stanton County Veterans' Memorial at the cemetery in care of Garnand Funeral home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson City, KS 67855 or to Johnson State Bank, P.O. Box 130, Johnson City, KS 67855.
