Flew the F-4 Phantom II jet fighter 2000 hours worth then pushed a LOT of paper in staff jobs. Retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996. The photo is from post-retirement but the jet I'm with was the top MiG killer in Vietnam and I flew her many times (I was not in the war). She is now (and forever) on display at the Air Force Academy where the pic was taken

Won the Draft Lottery and that was the last straq! I was in AFROTC and signed up to go fly jets. I ended up in the back seat of the 'world's largets distributor of MiG parts' the F-4 Phantom II phighter. I logged over 2,000 hours on over 1,000 individual missions in the old Phantom Jet. Then life went to Hell and I got promoted to Major and had to fly a desk for the rest of my career which meant I missed Desert Storm too. I retired in 1996 in the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. The picture is of me with an 'old girlfriend' that is on permanent display at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs. She is F-4D 463 and was the top MiG killing jet of the Vietnam War with six confirmed victories. I phlew her for a couple of years out of Okinawa in the late '70s and even had my name painted on her rear canopy for awhile. I had a great time serving my country and seeing the world.

I went in the army when I was 24, I had other jobs but I knew that serving my country is what I always wanted to do when I was in JROTC. When I retire, I am going to become either a Department of Defense employee or a Police Officer. I have been to Korea, Iraq and Kuwait, numerous places in the states. Cant wait to get back to my roots though, nothing like Arkansas
