Coast Guard, 16 Years

I have served tours on both the East and West coasts in a wide variety of assignments. Recent positions include School Chief of the Chief Warrant Officer Professional Development Course (2001), Officer Candidate School Instructor (2000-2003), Enforcement Division Chief at Sector Baltimore, MD (2003-2006) and currently as Commanding Officer, Coast Guard Station New London, CT. My next tour of duty will be as a professor of moral philosophy and ethics at the Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT.
I have truly enjoyed my Coast Guard experience with many opportunities to lead diverse teams and serve on the front lines of our vast maritime domain. I have traveled to many interesting places including Ghana, Western Samoa, American Samoa, Columbia, Panama, Hawaii, Alaska, and most islands in the Carribean. The Coast Guard has also provided me many excellent educational opportunities to earn advanced degrees. In 2008 I recieved the Navy Leagues Captain David H. Jarivs Award for Inspirational Leadership, given to one Coast Guard Officer each year.
