GARY E CALVIN

Class of 1960

I grew up in a navy family and enlisted right after graduation. I spent 4 in the air force and the18 in the navy. When people ask me about my experience one big question is: WHICH IS BEST? Too me, both were a great experience. However, being career, promotions were part of the package. After 4 in the air force I was still a lowly E-3, which is practically automatic. However, seven years into the navy and I was an E-7. So, at least in promotions, the navy was best. Each person needs to do some research before choosing a service branch, they do differ in many ways.
