About Lorne Gair, affectionately known as Buddy, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in British Columbia surrounded by family. He courageously battled Cancer for the last five years.

Lorne is survived by his loving wife, Jean, his devoted daughter, Jenn (Connor) and his adoring granddaughter, Myla. He is survived by his siblings, Darlene (Eric) Scheuer, Marj (Jim) Carrie, Janice (George) Peasgood, sister-in-law Colleen Gair, former wife Darlene (McDonald) Winch dear friends Lance (Georgia) Campbell, Greg (Barb) Townsend and predeceased by his parents, Allan and Violet, and his brothers Jim and Tom.

Lorne was born on August 3, 1952, to Allan and Violet Gair, and he grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He attended Sisler High School graduating in 1970. Lorne got married on October 25th, 1975, to Darlene. Lorne was an entrepreneur at heart, he created Gair's Sports Centre 678 McPhillips Street in the old neighborhood in Feb. 1974 along with his brother Tom. He ran the business for many years before closing it up and moving to British Columbia to be closer to family.

Lorne was a talented athlete and enjoyed wrestling in high school, hockey, lacrosse winning a bantam championship in 1967, golf and several pool / billiard championships in later years.

Lorne's vivacious energy and his ability to engage on any subject created many lifelong friends. Lorne had a rich social life and enjoyed countless large family gatherings, frequent get-togethers with friends which always brought him back to Manitoba, his cherished cars (an El Camino & Porsche) and travelling.

Lorne took immense pride in his family. Among his greatest achievements were his granddaughter, and he had a special and playful bond with her.

His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in those who knew him, and the lives he enriched through his guidance and mentorship. Lorne’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. We celebrate a life well-lived, and a man always loved , never forgotten and forever missed!

A celebration of his life will be held at Oakbank Bar in Winnipeg, MB on Sunday, Sept 28 at 2:00 p.m.
