Mike was a casual friend of mine all through junior high and high school. We lost touch after that. But I'd heard about his passing via others who were also friends. It made me sad that we had not kept in touch. My very last memory of Mike was of the last day of high school. He had asked me for one of my pieces of artwork from class (as we were all gathering stuff up to take home) and so I gave him a one of my paintings — which seemed to please him.
