About Me	Charmie R. Curry is the associate commissioner for the Statewide System of Support, within the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In this role, Dr. Curry oversees support to the roughly 22 districts and 122 schools designated in the lowest 10th percentile of the state accountability system. A former elementary teacher and school leader, teacher coach, performance management partner, and equity director, Dr. Curry has also served as supervising faculty in Elementary Methods in the Sposato Graduate School of Match Education. At Sposato, Dr. Curry supported pre-service educators in their preparation to lead classrooms within Match Charter Schools or other charter and Boston Public Schools. Dr. Curry is an experienced system leader with a passion for justice-centered education reform. This passion has led her to serve in national education reform organizations such as The New Teacher Project (TNTP) and TeachPlus, and created opportunities to engage in statewide work such as participating in Influence100, a statewide pipeline to diversify the ranks of school superintendents. In 2021, Dr. Curry, along with other founding equity officers authored an opinion piece on the importance of equity work in schools, published in the Boston Globe’s Opinion/Ideas section. Prior to entering education, Dr. Curry worked as an editor on the Globe’s News Desk.
