About | James B. Duvall (April 15, 1951 — January 13, 2025) Jim Duvall, 73, of Edgewater, Maryland, passed away peacefully in Chicago’s Crystal Lake neighborhood at his daughter Jessica’s home on January 13, 2025, with his beloved wife of 47 years, Kathleen (née Green), by his side. Jim was the devoted father of Jennifer (Farzan) Duvall and Jessica (Eric) Farrell, and the proud grandfather of Peyton and Adam Farrell. He was a caring brother to John Duvall and Susan (John) Viqueira, and a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews. A retired master home builder, Jim was much more than his work. He was his family’s trusted boat captain every weekend on the South River. He was a dedicated coach of many little league sports, instilling the importance of teamwork with his unwavering patience. He was a musician across multiple genres and instruments, entertaining crowds for over 5 decades. He shared his latest passion for music as a proud member of the Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition. Whether serving as treasurer of the Londontown Property Association, helping a neighbor in need, or jumping on his boat day or night to tow in a friend stuck out in the river, Jim's kindness, selflessness and generosity left an impact on all who knew him. Jim fought a battle with cancer for several years with courage. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, unmistakable laugh, ability to fix anything with anything, and steadfast commitment to family, friends, and community. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in the coming months in Edgewater, Maryland, where friends and family can gather to honor his memory and share stories of the man who meant so much to so many. Details will be shared as they are finalized. Jim’s family asks that instead of flowers, you hold your loved ones close and reflect on a fond memory. Sail on, Captain Jim. You are loved beyond measure. |
