He was born in Costa and resided in Elkins at his passing. He was preceded by: father, Patrick; mother, Sylvia; and brother, Jerry.
He was survived by wife; Nayoka Guthrie-Barker; son, Jay Guthrie; daughters, Leaha Barker, & Carrie Slack (Bobby); and brother, Joe (Jean).
James served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason & Past Master of the Blue Lodge of Chesapeake.
He was a pipefitter & welder for41 yrs. He loved fishing with friends of the Cheat River Surf Fishing Assoc.
