About Event
As of today, here is the current plan for a schedule of events. The schedule may change a little between now and September but thought we would provide what is planned. We are still working out costs.
Friday, September 5
3pm - We are trying to lock down some type of simple activity prior to the evening event at the Red Lion. we will let you know what we come up with.
5pm-10pm
Gather at the Red Lion for a casual attire evening of cocktails, music, and heavy hors d'oeuvres (we do have a commitment from a local DJ to provide music from our era). We are not doing a sit down dinner. There is a restaurant on site named the Three Shasta's, and there are several restaurants within walking distance where you can get a full dinner. If you just want to enjoy Hors d'oeuvres in the ballroom,
Currently we plan to have the following Hors d'oeuvres:
Tri-Colored Chips with Salsa
Fresh Vegetables , Served with ranch dressing.
Fresh Fruit Display
Meat and Cheese Display, Assorted deli meats and cheeses served with fresh rolls and appropriate condiments.
Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Book a room for a good rate!! If you are staying at the Red Lion then book your hotel room for the night of September 5 to get a good rate. Tell them you want the Shasta High Class of 75 rate. They are offering us a group rate of $105 a night, so please call and reserve your room. Here's the contact information - Gina Realmuto, Red Lion Redding Sales Admin
Ph: (530) 224-6611.
Saturday, September 6
9a-9:30a
Class Bench Dedication. Gather at the Sundial Bridge for coffee and a brief walk to the Class of 75 bench on the south side of the river where we can dedicate our gift to Redding.
11a-1:30p
Time to take this reunion party north to Mt. Shasta. Take a ride on the ski lift at Mt. Shasta Ski Park. Any of us riding on the ski lift are required to sign a waiver. The views up there are outstanding.
People are welcome to set up RV's, campers, and tents in the parking lot at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park throughout the day so they can spend the evening on site free of charge thanks to our classmate Robin Gronwoldt Merlo. There is a bar on site called Ray's Place. Alcohol is not allowed openly in the parking lot but folks can consume alcohol in their RV's, campers, etc. We need to be respectful of the Ski Lodge alcohol license.
5p-11p
Join your classmates for a fun evening of food (hoping to nail down some type of simple catered meal from a local restaurant), drinks purchased at Ray's Place (bar at the lodge), we are also trying to determine how we can provide music.
We will be offering an 11 passenger taxi service between 3:30pm and 11pm through Mt. Shasta Taxi for those concerned about drinking and driving as they travel between their hotels in Mt. Shasta or McCloud. Keep in mind, the taxi service will take about an hour round trip so filling up the taxi in the 4pm and 5 pm hours will be crucial to get everyone on site in time to maximize their enjoyment.
People may camp in the parking lot overnight but must exit the lodge grounds by Sunday afternoon no later than 4pm.
We have not been able to get a local hotel in Mt. Shasta or McCloud to give us a lower rate by reserving a block of rooms. Mt. Shasta & McCloud are considered resort towns so rooms are a little pricier than Redding. There are many options in Mt. Shasta and McCloud.
Below are just some lodging options for Mt. Shasta and McCloud that are out there (prices are lower in Weed and Dunsmuir but our taxi service may not make it out that far)
