A fundraiser benefit will take place on Friday, November 30, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the Seneca High School Commons. The purpose of the benefit is to raise money to assist with the medical expenses of Kirk Houchin, SHS’s Guidance Counselor and Varsity Baseball Coach. Mr. Houchin sustained traumatic injuries last summer in a motor vehicle accident. His recovery requires continuous medical care including the treatment of blood clots in his leg and lung, and both physical and occupational therapies.
The benefit will consist of an all-you-can-eat spaghetti supper, silent auction, and various raffles. Some items available for auction are tickets for the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls; hockey tickets for the Chicago Wolves and the Peoria Rivermen; gift certificates from a variety of local businesses, and much more. Prices for the meal are $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10. An account has been set up at the Mazon State Bank (606 Depot St., Mazon, 60444, 815-448-2102) where monetary donations may be made payable to the Kirk Houchin Benefit Fund.
Mr. Houchin is a lifelong resident of Mazon and lives with his wife Cindy, daughters Megan 15, Amanda 14, and son Mathew 10. He is the son of Keith and Beverly Houchin also of Mazon. For more information call 815-357-5045.
