Selected as the 2006 Oregon Teacher of the Year; National Board of Professional Teaching Standards "National Board Certification;" 2002; renew in 2012. Science Department Chair, Colton High School, Colton, Oregon.

Served on the Oregon State Board of Education and the Oregon Education Assocation Board of Directors. Murdock Charitable Trust "Partners in Science" Fellow for research conducted at the Oregon Health and Science University.
