In high school, Bill was a guitar player in a band called "The Pagens", later changing their name to "Julia". Bill later changed his own name to "Blue Miller" and backed Bob Seger before eventually becoming a founding member of The Gibson-Miller country music bañd, gaining national attention. After that, he went on to work with musicians such as Isaac Hays.
