| About | My sister Nancy died in Santa Fe, New Mexico from Covid complications. She lived happily there for many years not far from our mom, Fay Hertz. |

Nancy was a great and enthusiastic younger sister to me. She probably would have told me not to bother submitting this information so as to not bum people out. She was a great student, tennis gal, skiing pro, hiker,horse woman( she and our mom rode regularly at Secor Farms). She loved all dogs and our parakeet Tweety who made the front page of The Scarsdale Enquirer in April of 1963 in a human interest story. Nan’s life in 1972, after a year at The University of Vermont was slowly derailed by the onset of what was finally determined to be schizophrenia. For the remainder of her life, Nan lived with this debilitating condition with the unflagging support of her family.Our mom in particular ,who at the age of 101 when Nan died was continuously working to improve my sister’s life. Nancy told me in later years that she would have liked to have been a librarian! Our collective happy memory of lots of time spent in The Scarsdale Liibrary may have contributed to that thought.
- She however never complained and did her best to live a full organized interesting life under this dark cloud. I am proud of her for that . Submitted by her brother James ( Bo) Hertz class of 1968
