1987 Saratoga Grad Starts Summer Camp With Positive Message
Bob McFarlane, a graduate of Saratoga High School in 1987, has started a youth camp based around providing a positive sports experience for all kids. Bald Eagle Camps is the only youth camp organization in the country to be Approved by Positive Coaching Alliance, a national non-profit whose mission is to improve the culture of youth sports. Campers enjoy a multitude of activities that are engaging to every level of athleticism, and get a great life message about how to be a great competitor in a competitive world. Bald Eagle and PCA want kids to understand how to get the most out of themselves by feeling empowered with a plan, how to be a great teammate by encouragement while taking responsibility, and by learning to honor the rules in any environment.
As PCA's Triple-Impact Competitor model continues to take hold, Bald Eagle Sports Camps, in a unique partnership with PCA, is building Triple-Impact Competitor training into the daily experience of first-through-eighth-grade campers. Every Bald Eagle director, coach and volunteer is a PCA-certified Double-Goal Coach®, and character education is central to Bald Eagle's non-traditional multi-sports camp, as well as its skill-development camps for basketball.
Intent on gathering feedback from the PCA community on our pilot program for sports camps, we have worked with Bald Eagle to arrange for discounted camp fees. Coaches, parents and players from your school or organization who contact Bald Eagle should mention your affiliation with PCA to get a discounted rate for a full week of camp.

About Bob McFarlane and Bald Eagle Sports Camps
In addition to being a PCA Trainer, Bob McFarlane, a Special-Ed and PE teacher at Los Altos High School, has more than 21 years of experience coaching basketball at the college, high school and youth levels. A two-time all league basketball player at Saratoga High School, he played for Cuesta College and then served as an assistant coach at Chico State University while earning a kinesiology degree and single-subject teaching credential. Bob also has a masters degree in Special Education from Santa Clara University.
Bald Eagle Sports Camps was founded by Bob and his wife Glenda in 2009 in an effort to develop young coaches and directly teach the younger demographic the principles of being a Triple-Impact Competitor. Bald Eagle Sports Camps believes the PCA principles have the power to improve cultures far beyond the playing field, and aims at spreading the message to new depths in communities across the country.
