Coach Cunz (as many knew him) was an especially kind and gentle soul, who went out of his way to notice, see, and offer a kind word for each and every of those of us fortunate enough to have been on a team that he coached, or (as in my case) merely as a student in his PE (physical education) classes. As I was not cut out to play tackle football, I can only recall him as one of the seasonal PE teachers, and more importanly, he personally approached me outside near the pool one day to recommend that I join the water polo team -- which provided me then with some fine memories and athletic experiences (I'm a lifelong regular lap swimmer) that have contributed to my continued good health and life enjoyment.
