Maud (Missy) Beelman, a 1976 Salmen High School graduate and co-editor of the award-winning Spartan Chariot student newspaper, was asked to write a personal essay geared to journalism students and educators. A group of various professionals were asked to pick a value they hold dear and write about how it applies to their work. Missy chose "courage" and how it could apply to the war fronts she covered, to locker room interviews, and to today's changing business model of journalism. Her essay was chosen to be published.
