Angela Stokes Sutton

Class of 1994

Angela Stokes Sutton, a native of Slidell and a 1994 graduate of Salmen, was appointed in 2009 by the Indiana Department of Corrections to the position of Superintendent of the Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility for Women in Madison, Indiana.

Sutton earned a Masters’ iDegree in Criminal Justice from SUNO, and before moving to Indiana, she worked as a case manager for the St. Tammany Parish Drug Court. Her career has included serving as a psychiatric social services specialist at the Pendleton Correctional Facility and also at the Indianapolis Juvenile Correctional Facility. After receiving several promotions to unit team manager, program director, and assistant superintendent, she was appointed to her current position, where at age 33 she is the youngest appointee to ever hold the title.
