| About Me | In 1975 I was hired to be among one of the first 75 female police officers to patrol the streets of Detroit. It was not easy to break into an all male field where 98% of the men did not want to work with a woman. Back then an officer had to live in the city or risk getting fired, so I lived in the city. I lasted until the summer of 1989 and then retired. I had been assigned to the 7th Precinct, Central Events, the Vernor Precinct, had my own Mini Station at Harper and Van Dyke for four years and finished my career in Narcotics. After retiring and resting a bit, I worked as a Campus Safety Officer at Marian High School, from August 2001 until October 2006. Then Marygrove College, until May 2009. I am now in Corporate Security and I love it! I wrote a book, however, I do NOT consider myself a writer, I am a story teller, my stories just happen to be true, called "Badge 3483, A True Story", about my experiences of being a Detroit officer and also doing volunteer undercover work in the suburbs before I became a Detroit cop.
