RHS Class of '68 R-U-L-E-S!

What good is taking a picture if it cannot be shared, especially when the amazing Class of '68 reunited again for a 55-year reunion!
Y-E-S, 68 still rules and we found the empirical evidence to prove it, so it is official: The empirical rule (also called the "68-95-99.7 rule") is a guideline for how data is distributed in a normal distribution. The rule states that (approximately): - 68% of the data points will fall within one standard deviation of the mean.
Didn't we learn that is some Math class, back in the day, or were we too busy passing notes to remember? Our Math teachers must be smiling right about now! Ahhhhh, the sweet M-E-M-O-R-I-E-S come rushing back . . .

Class of '68 55-yr Reunion

Rosemead High School Class of 1968 will host the 55-yr Reunion on October 18th at Clearman's Galley: The Boat 7215 Rosemead Blvd San Gabriel CA. No reservations required, no tickets to purchase, and you are on your own for hotel reservations and/or transportation in the area.
Let's party like it's 1968 again! We will be outdoors on a covered patio. Casual attire, wear your dancing shoes, and contact all of your 1968 Panther Pals to spread the word. Can we call it a R-E-U-N-I-O-N with Y-O-U?

A beloved RHS teacher dies....

ROSEMEAD - A beloved Rosemead High School teacher died Thursday after the car he was driving jumped a center median and slammed into oncoming traffic on Rosemead Boulevard.

Onetime head football coach James Zant, 51, of La Habra - a government, English and history teacher at the school for 25 years - was headed to teach summer school when his Honda CR-V slammed into a Toyota Tundra about 7:30 a.m., officials said.

"He was one of the teachers who knew his subject inside and out but also was able to relate it to the kids," Rosemead Principal Larry Callaham said Thursday afternoon. "He was so well loved by students and faculty."

Zant was a head football coach during the 1990s and more recently was a track coach, Callaham said.

Investigators believe Zant was northbound on Rosemead Boulevard when his vehicle jumped the median, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Marvin Payne, who is investigating the crash.

The driver of the truck was southbound and suffered minor injuries.

A third vehicle, which officers believe was behind the truck in the southbound lane, was also hit. The female driver suffered minor injuries.

Police are still trying to determine what caused Zant to drive into oncoming traffic.

"There was no braking on his part, which is strange," Payne said at the scene. "It is possible he could have had some sort of medical condition."

Payne said investigators will have to
wait for a report from the Los Angeles County Departm

Bud Kalama Passes

On June 10, 2008, Bud unexpectedly passed away. He was in the Class of '67 and had 4 great years on the Panther football field. He was survived by his wife Carol, children Lani, Nainoa, Ilima, Danielle and Lukela. He was also grandpa to 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandaughter.
