Volunteered for the draft in 1962 after I heard JFK's famous speech which included the phrase, "ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country?" I entered the U.S. Army during the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, October 1962 and I did my basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. The remaining time I was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas...Honorably Discharged!

I was a Heavy Equipment Operator at Vandenberg A.F.B in Calif. I was also on the base bowling team. In 1969 I came in 6th place in the S.A.C. tournament and came in 14th place in the world wide Air Force tournmament(representing S.A.C.).

I served as an M1A1 Tanker for 22 years in the United States Army. I was wounded in Iraq in 2005 by an insurgent sniper. I retired in 2008 and currently live in Leavenworth, Kansas.
