Navy ROTC at Vanderbilt University and Naval Flight Officer training in Pensacola, FL. Earned "Wings of Gold" in Sept 1974. Flew P-3B Orion (anti-submarine warfare) and EP-3E Aries (electronic warfare) aircraft. Highlights: 4 yrs in Rota, Spain; 2 yrs in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (GITMO, but before it had a prison!); Azores; Sicily; Greece; Germany; Philippines; Ascension Island; intercepted by MIG-23s over Baltic Sea; toured five continents. Chuck Boyer (RHS '69) and I served together in VQ-2 in Rota, Spain. Retired in 1993, following the end of the Cold War and the first Iraq War.

Trained in aviation electronics to service and maintain inertial navigation, radar, and bombing computer systems on RA5C Vigilante aircraft. I was assigned to a squadron after training and remained with them until my discharge in November of 1970. During that time the squadron was deployed aboard the USS Forrestal for nine months in the Mediteranean, the USS Independence for 4 months in the north Atlantic, and the USS America for nine months in the Tonkin Gulf.

30-year Combat Vet -- Deployed all over the world -- Including the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Mexico; Indian, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans; the Caribbean, Arabian, Mediterranean, Baltic, Adriatic, Tyrrahnean, Red, North and Norwegian Seas -- Sicily; Greenland; Denmark; Norway, England; Germany; Italy; Bosnia; Panama; Venezuala; Carribean Islands; Japan; Spain; Portugal; Palma; Bahrain; Saudi Arabia; Oman; United Arab Emirates; Diego Garcia; Guam; Saipan; Malaysia; Mexico; Puerto Rico; Bahamas; Cuba; Switzerland; Azores and a few others... . In my 30-years I saw the world walking on 6 of 7 Continents and Sailing the Seven Seas. I Enlisted in April 1978, Retired August 2008 rising from Recruit to Lieutenant Commander -- It was a challenging life, but I would not have traded it for anything... .

Nuclear Trained Petty Officer on board the USS Ethan. Completed 7 Deterrent Polaris Missile Patrols in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean in the 1960's. After 8 years of active duty, completed 14 years in the Navy Reserves retiring in 1982 as a Lieutenant (Engineering Duty).

I am currently stationed at Fort Drum, NY after being stationed in Texas twice, Germany twice and Fort Lewis. I'm serving as a Platoon Sergeant and been deployed to Iraq (07-09) and Afghanistan (11-12). I would like to retire after 20 years and hopefully join SFC Downs as a JROTC assistant/instructor.

Enlisted in the Air Force in April of my senior year. Served at Loring AFB, Maine,(65-67) Phu Cat AB Vietnam,(67-68) Bolling AFB, DC,(68-70) Anderws AFB DC,(70-73) Rhein Maine AB Germany (73-76), Andrews AFB, DC 76-85)
Served in Vietnam with the Misty FAC's (Fast FACS, F-100F) flying FAC missions over North Vietnam from Apr 67 - Apr 68. Bud Day a Medal of Honor recipient was my commander. Retired in 1985 as an E-7 with four AF specialties and spent the next 26 years with the Air Force as a GS 12 serving at MacDill AFB, Tampa Fl, Langley AFB, Va, Tyndall AFB, Panama City, Fl, Anderson AFB, Guam and finally at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo Tex. Retired in 2011 with 46 years total Federal service.

Crew chief on B-57, U-2, T-38, F-106, F 105. Served from end of 66 until discharge at Dover AFB DE, 73. Spent 3 yrs at Edwards AFB CA, met Gary Francis Powers while working on U-2, then was assigned a brand new T-38 right out of the factory, pilot was some guy named Aldrin who had walked on the moon.67-68 at Clark AB PI, & Phan Rang AB RVN, then to Edwards, Dover, finishing at McGuire with the National Guard.

I was an Master Electro Mechanical Team Chief responsible for maintaining ground support equipment for Minuteman II ICBM's. I was in the 44th Strategic Missile Wing at Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City SD from January 1972 until March 1975. I took part in two successful test firings of MMII missiles from Vandenburg AFB, in California and was also a primary response team for the Simulated Electronic Launch Minuteman (SELM) test in 1974 which was know as Giant Pace Test 74-1
