About Me | Bishop Bob Vance is a sixty two years old Ordained Bishop in The Church of God. Having served as evangelist, church-planter, District Overseer, as well as serving as Overseer of southern Indiana, and on the Executive Board of CGMA in the 80s,he also served in the official elected positions of Assistant General Secretary -- Treasurer as well as The Assistant General Overseer. He was voted in as Editor of the monthly church magazine Gospel Herald which led to the release and publishing of his first of several books concerning his victory in overcoming polio, the planting and subsequent growth of his first church. Bob and wife Nancy met in 1969, married in 1971, and were blessed with Kimberly, Eric, Kara, and Kristi over the next few years. During the 70s and 80s he felt blessed to plant or "take in" several churches into his organization. Ordained Bishop with the Church of God Cleveland Tn., and Also serves on the board of T L Lowery Ministries, Cleveland, Tn., Bob has been serving the Lord from age fifteen, having been saved January 1967 in norteastern Ohio and baptized in the Holy Ghost on April 29, 1967 at Cleveland Ohio youth rally during the drama "Heaven-Hell". Immediately recognizing the call of God on his life and began teaching then preaching at 20 years of age. Attended college in Wooster, Ohio as well as attending pastoral classes in Tennessee, Texas, Ohio, and Indiana for continuation in his ministry. Shortly thereafter he gained a passionate addiction to missions and has spent time ministering in Israel, Egypt, Haiti, Jamaica, Jordan, as well as several European countries, leading 15 tours to the Holy Land including Egypt, and Jordan, and Turkey. He calls it a geat honor to have been on the continent of Europe over 30 times during his life. For thirty-five years Bob served as founder and Senior Pastor of Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Columbus, Indiana after moving from Akron, Ohio. They moved tomthat area to plant a church where their congregation purchased a building and built additions 4 times to accomodate growth . During this time the Vances went on television at Indpls., Knoxville, southern Ky., , and Louisvlle metro area. Bob and Nancy and their lost their home and church building to a fire. , Then after purchasing 10 acres of beautiful ground built a million dollar building, operated a Day Care Center for several year and seen the mortgage burned on that property . Bishop and his wife Nancy have been personal guests with Rev. John Hagee, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and Rev. Rod Parsley thru the years, as well as hosting Trinity Broadcasting program in Indpls., In. Took in several churches on the island of Jamaica and Haiti where they are still going today. Bishop is the proud father of four wonderful children, 6 beautiful and talented grand-children, which sang with uim and Nancy on a recent gospel cd project. This August 7 Bob and Nancy Vance celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage as well almost 43 years in ministry. All their children sing, or play music in the church and ministry. He can be heard 24 hours a day on bobvanceministriesinc on his facebook site around the world, and is releasing a solo gospel project in November this year. He is looking forward to someday soon going back on television , which brings back great memories of the years of radio and television ministry at TBN and WHMB World Harvest Television in South Bend, Indiana. Their lowest church attendance was 3 in 1975 and 1,858 on the grounds when Dottie Rambo was guest singer and Bishop was the speaker. COP averaged 165 after building the new church. Although much of the personal ministry had been set aside to concentrate on the ministry of a small mission-type church in the wonderful mountains of WV where he was born and spent the first 10 years of his life, he is , none-the -less excited about what God is doing in the church world now and looks forward to spending many years in ministry, as well as contuing to write to encourage those in ministry. Upon leaving the little church in WV, Bishop looks at the 2 years spent there as important also. Many were saved and filled with the Holy Ghost and added to the church. Immediately before leaving that pastorate the church had doubled in attendance, began to support missions overseas hands-on by sending a building and ministry teams well as ministering on the local radio station, and adding new youth classes which took the Weds. Nights services to a new height in the area. He believes that he served with some wonderful people in that 2 years, that he will never forget. Bishop Vance is now recuperating from a terrible fall at that church parsonage. Recuperation has included surgery, and well over a year in post-surgery therapy at several doctors. He still remains under doctors care and is looking forward to being able to go full force someday soon. ...(read more) |
