About Me I am a retired pastor with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. I authored theological papers and multimedia DVDs, used to write a column frequently in the local newspaper, formerly taught for the Institute of Lutheran Theology, conducted on-line classes and served two terms as president of the Ministerial Alliance. We retired to Punta Gorda, Florida, where I am one of six emeritus pastors in a lively, growing church. I teach Bible classes, fill-in teaching and preaching, counsel and write Bible studies and theological papers. Currently, I am also serving as president of our 3,400 member property owners association. My wife, Carol, attends a Bible study and enjoys movies and using her iPad. Recently, our niece has joined us, after the death of her husband. She is a joy to have around. Instructional Experience I taught in the field of Business at Yavapai College while in seminary. In addition, during this same time I was an instructor in Anatomy & Physiology, Physics, Biology, Algebra, Geometry, Logic, Writing Through Literature, American History, German and Senior Literature at American Heritage Academy Charter High School. I believe that all students respond to differing styles of learning, so my classes were marked by extensive use of visual, auditory and kinesthetic (writing and hands-on) methods. In addition, I made extensive use of the Socratic method of using questions to allow student to develop the rigor of thought processes that form the basis of critical thinking. I prepared each student to be capable of handling the college experience, including how to read a textbook, take notes, research for information, summarize findings, present and defend assertions to the class, and learn there are consequences for every behavior. Every activity in and out of the classroom was a learning opportunity, including frequent feedback and testing. No student was allowed to give-up or disengage. Students culminated their learning experience at the end of each semester by conducting a lecture on a subject from the class text. Business Experience I had over 25 years of experience in several functional areas in a variety of industries in locations throughout the United States and abroad. I have authored many training and strategic planning papers and have been much sought after in the field of new product development. I hold several trade secrets for chemical electrocoat primers used in the automotive industry, and several for predictive algorithms used in the banking and credit card industry. My most recent work experience was with two major banks serving the commercial and consumer markets as Vice President in the disciplines of business management, marketing, product development and technical development. In the performance of these various roles, I was responsible for the development of a variety of new commercial products targeted to businesses from the Fortune 100 to mid-size companies to small and SOHO businesses. Previously, I also worked in the fields of business development, contracting, research chemistry and project management with a variety of major companies located in several States and foreign counties. Education I have undergraduate training in the fields of Psychology at Case Western Reserve University and Chemistry at Case Institute of Technology, and graduate training in the fields of Business (MBA) from the University of New Haven and Law from John Marshall School of Law. I have a Masters of Divinity from Resurrection Lutheran Theological Seminary...(read more)
