Thomas C. Trimble died unexpectedly during his daily run in Newhall Park on Saturday, January 3rd in Concord at the young age of 55.
Thom is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; his children from a prior marriage, Carolina and Jacqueline; his parents, Gerald and Jacqueline of Santa Maria; and siblings Lynn of San Diego and Rebecca of Forestville.
Thom was born July 2, 1959 in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in1981 with a degree in mechanical engineering and was a member of the Cal Poly cross country team. After graduation, Thom moved to the Bay area to join Pacific Gas and Electric Company where he worked as an engineer for 34 years.
A lifelong athlete, Thom actively encouraged and inspired his daughters in the sports of softball, basketball, soccer and even pole vaulting. His bedtime stories to his daughters during their early years were animated and often original with his own sound affects. Thom was passionate and deeply engaged in his daughter's education. Thom exemplified how learning begins at home, and how exciting and meaningful learning can be. Through his presence and guidance he sought to inspire in his daughters a desire to learn new things in and out of school.
Thom and his close friend, Professor John Monteverdi, shared a unique passion, they were avid tornado chasers. But perhaps Thom was best known for his love of running. A passion he shared with Mary. Thom was an active and dedicated member of the East Bay Striders.
