My sister Jill had a kidney transplant in May of 1972, at the Medical College of Virginia, which was the only medical facility doing transplants back then. She had complications after having a child, which required her to have transplant, or she would have had to remain on dialysis. Our Mother was her kidney donor. Things went fine, but sadly she developed spinal meningitis in September of 1972. She died September 16th, 1972. She was 24 years old.
Jill's daughter is Chantal Di Nicola, who looks just like Jill. And, she would make my sister very proud.
