In Memory of

Class of 1967
Apr 16, 1949 - Dec 23, 2018

Jerry Wayne Brockmeyer was born on April 16, 1949 and passed away on December 23, 2018. Jerry and I grew up in Peoria Heights, Illinois and attended Monroe Avenue Grade School and Peoria Heights school through 8th grade. We both went to Richwoods High School and graduated together in 1967. He went to U of I in Champaign-Urbana and I went into the Army after one year there. I was surprised when I returned back to U of I that Jerry was studying Ceramic Engineering and so was I. After receiving his BS degree, Jerry left for California to work for a refractory company, while I stayed to get my PhD. We spoke often, mostly about growing up in the Heights and the good times we had as kids. His dad had a new black Thunderbird and used to take us for rides. Jerry was a very kind person was married to a lovely person. I was so shocked to see him in such ill health at our 50th reunion in 2017. We made promises to get together again. Love you like a brother, Jerry! Dale "Doc" Wittmer
