| About Me | About the Author I was born into the flowering time, May 1968, into a rural setting, the daughter of a father who is Metis Indian and French and of a mother who is Crow Indian and Swede. I was raised on a 106-acre farm in Boston, Indiana. I have three brothers and a sister. I received a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Creative Writing and Poetry from Ball State University, on December 2000, along with three minors in: Sociology, Psychology of Human Development, and Interpersonal Relations. On May 2003, I received a Master Degree for Secondary Education. Went on to attend Special Ed-law classes, Educational Leadership, and Linguistics. received a certificate in Alcohol and Drug Counseling. With all of this education I have emphasized on Native American stereotypes, literature, history, and culture (Special Education/children and adults) I have traveled within the United States to Canada; presenting research at the First Nation’s Conference and educating others through my creative writing and poetry. I have been an instructor of Multicultural Education at Ball State University and also a Graduate Assistant in the Educational Leadership Department. I have also instructed at Ivy Tech in Muncie, Indiana and in Richmond, Indiana, teaching: English, Reading, Essay Writing, and screenplay writing. I am the author of two books and a chapbook that I designed myself. I have served as a staff member of the MTCUP Review Magazine five consecutive semesters, an Associate member of Lambda Iota Tau Fraternity, a member of the International Honorary for Leaders, and a member of the Friends Society at Bracken Library. My Scholarships include: Barry Wright Scholarship in 1999 for excellence in poetry from the Department of English at Ball State University, dean’s list at the Teacher’s college 2000-2002, Freedom Voices/ Mary TallMountain Award for cultural contributions to my community and artistic achievement in writing, the Judith G. Najib one time memorial scholarship for pursuing an advanced degree for the summer session of 2003, award for the Wall of Tolerance Co-Chairs—honoring me for taking a personal and public stand against hate, injustice, and intolerance, and for leading the way towards a more just America as founding members for National Campaign of Tolerance. My writings have been published in several newspapers, magazines, and newsletters throughout Indiana and the United States. I live with my son. My goals and future dreams are to continue to educate myself and others in and out of the college setting through my writings and teachings.
