Larry "Papa Bear" Lee Quillen Age 71, of Mikana, WI died Saturday, June 29, 2024 in Mikana. He was born on October 16, 1952 in Rice Lake, WI to Chester and Norma (Hansen) Quillen.
Larry graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1970, graduated from UW Stout in Hotel/Restaurant Management and received his Masters Degree in Education from Northwest University. He was married to Carol Hart on March 2, 1985 in Long Beach, California. Larry was a special education teacher, a substitute teacher and owned and operated Quillen's Big Bear in Mikana for 10 years. He loved fishing, golfing, cooking and playing cribbage.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Quillen; 2 daughters, Allison (Mitchell) Cretors and Holly Quillen; 4 grandchildren, Hailee, Zackary, Hunter and Blaze; a sister, Norma Jean (Tom) Jankowski; sister-in-law, Mary Quillen; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Norma Quillen; and a brother, Robert Quillen.

A celebration of his life will be held from 11AM-4PM Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Cedar Lake Grill in Mikana, WI. Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.

Knew Larry as a little brother to big Robert who I was a good friend of. We hunted and fishes many times growing up. Remember Chet and his mother who were wonderful people. Loved growing up in the area.
