About	Karl W. Westerlund, age 62, of Sarona died Saturday, November 29, 2014 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and beloved hospice nurse, Teresa. Karl was born March 3, 1952 in Rice Lake, WI to Elmer and June (Beinhauer) Westerlund. He grew up on the family farm and then worked as a welder in Rice Lake and the Superior shipyards, where he welded on the Edmond Fitzgerald. Karl also played bass guitar in a local band and worked as a lumberjack. He drove semi for most of his career and loved the wide open roads. Karl's passion was riding his Harley with his friends. He had many rides out West, including Sturgis. Karl loved nature, animals, birds, and the great outdoors. He is survived by his loving son, David (Lauren); 2 sisters: Marvis (Dave) Schaer, Sarona and Judy (Bill) Schmidt, Stillwater, MN; 3 stepchildren: Crystal, Kirk, and Wayne; grandchildren: Bailey, Westin, Abagail, Aaron, Kimberly, Katie, Wylie, Trent, Brooke, Dalton, Dovie; several great-grandchildren; 3 special nephews: Doug, Craig, and Dan; 1 niece, Jennifer; and many loving friends. Special thanks to the wonderful hospice team, Teresa, Angie, Theresa, and Nicole, who were our angels. Private family services will be held.
