| Favorite School Memory | Ditching Class to go to the Study Hall, and developing a life long interest in William Shakespeare. For English Class we staged a student production of Midsummer Night's Dream. |
| About Me | After changing my major from Pre-Med to Pre-Law after freshman Chemistry, I attended college in California and Wisconsin, finally graduating in 1976 from UC-Riverside.; I had an academic scholarship to Pepperdine University School of Law first year. I loved law school and after graduating and passing the Bar Exam I went to work as a Public Defender; I did not enjoy that, and took a job in the Right of Way Department at Caltrans. Right of Way is the real estate arm of Caltrans, responsible for acquisition of property and property rights for CA Transportation projects. I advanced rapidly there and have supervised most major portions of the right of way department necessitating the study of everything from date propagation to commercial fish farming and the operation of storage facilities. I have held various positions there, but my favorite was heading the Acquisition and Relocation Assistance Branches of the Right of Way Department. After acquisition of their property, the displaced residential and commercial occupants need to be relocated. I administer advisory and financial benefits available to those persons. I have authored several courses and textbooks related to the Right Of Way disciplines and teach throughout the state. I also teach the federal aid project process to local public agencies in partnership with Caltrans and I teach for the International Right of Way Association in the Relocation Assistance Series. I have several professional designations and am a candidate of the PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (PMP) designation for the Project Management Institute. The highlights of my personal life are reconnecting with the love of my life after he was widowed. We were married in 2008 on the 25th anniversary of our meeting; I spent many years as a member of a clown troupe providing support to athletes in the California Special Olympics Program. I am a Methodist and attend First United Methodist Church in Ontario. In high school I developed an interest in Shakespeare. I have attended Camp Shakespeare; affiliated with the Utah Shakespearean Festival several times, where I have had the opportunity to work in the costume shop knitting "chain mail"; I was able to realize my childhood dream of appearing on Jeopardy, and until the rule change, I had the distinction of losing to the number one money winner of all time; a five time undefeated champion, winner of the Tournament of Champions and winn...(read more) |
