Doug Norby

Doug Norby

Class of 1968

The individual that I feel should be considered for the Wall of Fame is my father, Doug Norby. He was born and raised in Grand Forks. He graduated from RRHS in 1968 and attended college at the University of North Dakota. Like quite a few young college men, my father enjoyed the parties at UND more than the school! He dropped out of UND, but there he did meet his wife, Sandy. He started Norby's Office Services, an office supply business, in Grand Forks. A few years later, with the help of Sandy (co-owner and chief designer), the business transitioned to include interior design of office spaces and the sale of furniture. Today, the business is known as Norby's Work Perks, and is entirely dedicated to designing office spaces. He has three children (Sadie, Emily & Matt)and five grandchildren (Mikey, Samuel, Grant, Ellory & Julian). All of his children graduated from RRHS and they all graduated from college. Once his grandchildren were born, Doug made a decision. He decided to go back to college so he could graduate and so he could be a positive role model for his grandchildren. He wants them all to know and appreciate the importance of a good education. He is also very active with the RRHS Alumni and soon he will be a member of the UND Alumni Association!! He has been a huge success in his life...in his marriage, with his children, with his grandchildren, in his business and now, in school again. I believe he is a true inspiration to all young men and women who struggle to make it through high school and college and he has been a huge success in his life.
