About Me | I come from a very tough background, so I don't care to hear how bad you had it. It is the reality of life that we all face obstacles at some point. While some people are strong enough to overcome the obstacles, others just forever wallow in self-pity. If someone is not willing to try to help him/herself, then I really have no time for that person. However, if I know of someone who is struggling and making an honest effort to help him/herself, I will be right there to help that person in EVERY way I possibly can. (See the Catch a Fish quote below!) I am strong because I know my weaknesses. I am alive because I am a fighter to the end. I am wise because I've been foolish, but have learned not to repeat my foolishness. I laugh because I have known real sadness. I might not be someone's first choice, but I am a great choice. I may not be rich, but I am valuable. I don't pretend to be someone I'm not, because I'm good at being me. I might not be proud of some of the things I've done in the past, but I am proud of who I am today. I may not be perfect but I don't need to be. With me.....WYSIWYG... (What You See Is What You Get). Take me as I am, or watch me as I walk away!! Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way! People these days are quick to identify all of their BFF's. But, there is truly just one BFF in anyone's life, and there is just one sure way to identify who that one person really is: When everyone has turned his/her back on you and walked out of your life, your only real BFF is the person who walks INTO your life at that time! Hopefully, most of us will never have to find out who that real BFF is! My philosophy is: If you honestly have no control over a situation, there is absolutely no point in worrying about it. But, if you do have any control over it, get off of your ass and do something about it! Treat every day like it is your last, because one day it will be. Live your life to the fullest...Just go for it, and NEVER LOOK BACK!!! Live for today, love for tomorrow, and laugh at all your yesterdays. Never regret the past, always hope for the future, and cherish every moment you have. WHAT WILL MATTER Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten will pass to someone else. Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you are owed. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away. Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear. So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire. Your bucket list will remain in it's present state of accomplishment for eternity. It won't matter where you came from or which side of the tracks you lived on at the end. It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant. So.....What will matter? How will your days be measured? What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built...not what you have, but what you gave. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage, or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your examples. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel an everlasting loss when you are gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live on in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom, and for what. Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident, It is not a matter of circumstances, but of your choices. Choose to live a life that matters.
