About	Nancy Carol Burford, 75, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on February 17, 2020, after a brief illness, in Marietta, Ohio. She was born on January 22, 1945, in Toler, Kentucky, daughter of the late Carl and Helen Reed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosemary Darnell and Phyllis Wiggins. Nancy was a graduate of Ravenswood High School, Glenville State College, and Marshall University. Nancy taught at Ravenswood High School for over 30 years before retiring. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood. She was the Queen Bee of the Purple Reign Red Hats. Nancy was also involved with the Jackson County Historical Society. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Burford of Ravenswood; nieces and nephews, Tim (Jeri) Rector, Ted (Jane) Rector, Monica Evans, Natalie Darnell, all of Ravenswood; Elaine Tintle of California; and her beloved cat, Rascal. The funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood with Reverend Ken Peters officiating. Burial was in the Ravenswood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of 3 South Memorial Health System, Marietta, Ohio, for their loving care for Nancy during her illness. Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood was in charge of her arrangements.
