Thomas LaMar Mitchell, age 69, died October 13, 2022. Tom was born September 25, 1953, to Karl Jefferson Mitchell and Mary Beth Clark Mitchell, in Provo, Utah. As a kid, Tom spent hours fishing on the Provo River and every summer vacation at Fish Lake and hunting in Center Canyon with the Menlove Family.

At 19, he served a two-year mission in the Dallas / Fort Worth mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1972 to 1974. Shortly after returning, he married the love of his life, Lynette Bjarnson on May 16, 1975. Over the next 12 years, they had 5 sons and 1 daughter.

Tom received an associate's degree in Accounting and Business Management from Stevens Henager Business College and later a bachelor's degree in Wildlife and Range Science from Brigham Young University.

Throughout his life, Tom worked as a garage door installer, accountant, restaurant owner, tree trimmer, and Wildlife Specialist. Tom loved scouting and served in several callings as Varsity Scout Coach over the years, as well as Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Executive Secretary, Primary Teacher, and Ward Building Specialist. Tom also loved the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, and gardening were his passion. In 1984 he and a group of varsity scouts spent 12 days hiking and camping in the Uintah’s and hiked to the top of Kings Peak for the "On Target " state-wide signaling event.

He loved his family, three brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Lynette Mitchell, of Provo; four sons, Dallas (Stacy) Mitchell, Brady (Kari) Mitchell, Corey Mitchell, Tyler (Marianne) Mitchell, his daughter Lynann Mitchell; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Levi Mitchell, his parents, and his older brother and sister.

Funeral services was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Edgemont 10th Ward Chapel. Interment is in the Provo City Cemetery.
