Jim Johnson

Class of 1959

A veteran of 22 years as an NFL assistant, Jim Johnson was regared as one of the top defensive master minds of the Philadelphia Eagles aggressive defense and one of the great defensive co-ordinators in NFL history. As a NFLcoach, Jim served with the Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks. Also, Jim was a college coach at Drake university, Indiana University, and Notre Dame before becoming an NFL coach. He has coached in the NFC championship games and Super bowl.
As a pirate, Jim Johnson was an All-State quarterback on the "58 undefeated football suburban league champions. Jim was an all-suburban basketball and baseball athlete.
Jim Johnson passed away July 28th,2009, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was honored at a memorial service attended by Several NFL players, coaches, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Jim Johnson always remained proud of his Proviso East roots. He was a friend and mentor to many. nominated by '58 football teammates.
