John G. (Jack) Briner

Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in 1962 from the University of the Pacific. A "Distinguished Graduate" of Officer Traininng School. Served as a Titan II Missile Combat Crew Commander 1963 to 1968. Served as an Active Reservist until 1989 when he transferred to the Retired Reserve as a full Colonel after 27 years of total service. Subsequently awarded the honorary rank of Brigadier General by the California State Military Department. Began his banking career with Wells Fargo Bank in 1968, joined Placer National Bank in 1972 as President & CEO serving in that capacity until its merger with Bank of Alex Brown in 1980. In 1981, he formed Auburn Bancorp and The Bank of Commerce, N.A. serving as President and CEO until bank was acquired by Westamerica Bank in 1997. In 1998, formed Auburn Community Bank serving as Chairman and CEO until it was acquired in 2005 by Umpqua Bank. In 2006, He was recruited to serve as President and CEO of First Mountain Bank in Big Bear Lake, California. He also serves as a Director of Pacific Coast Bankers' Bank in Walnut Creek. Served in numerous leadership positions throughout his military and banking careers. Some of his past civilian roles include Placer County chairman of the United Way Campaign, Trustee of Auburn Faith Hospital, director of the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce, and founding director of the Sacramento Home Loan Counseling Center. Also served as a director of the Auburn Community Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Sutter Health's Sacramento-Sierra Region, and chairman of the Board of Sutter VNA-Hospice Corporation. Is a Paul Harris Fellow and past president and charter member of lthe Auburn Daybreak Rotary Club. He is a member of Placer High School's "Hall of Fame" and has appeared in Marquis' "Who's Who In America".

92G - Food Service Specialist 2nd Battalion redeployed in December 2007 to Fort Bliss, TX. In 2008, it deployed from Fort Hood, TX to Iraq in support of OIF 08-10. Maintaining control of the northern half of the Maysan province of Iraq, it operated out of FOB Garryowen. FOB Garryowen, located in Amarah, Iraq's border city with Iran, was established in June 2008 for the battalion by a team of 23 Air Force Enlisted Engineers. B/2-7 CAV worked with the Iraqi Police in Majar al Kabir to capture the criminals responsible for murdering 6 British Military Police in November 2004. Among its other accomplishments, 2-7 CAV worked with the Iraqi Security Forces to provide successful security to Iraq's provincial elections in January 2009 and is responsible for several large volume cache finds. During its tour, the 10th Iraqi Army Division conducted Operation "Lion's Roar," a combined live-fire exercise in Maysan province in April 2009 - the first of its kind in the Iraqi Army. The exercise integrated U.S. enablers and demonstrated the capability and lethality of the Iraqi Army. 2nd Battalion is currently deploying to Mosul, Iraq.
