WASILLA
Joseph Colebank II, 37
Joseph W. Colebank II, 37, died Sept. 26, 2006, of melanoma at his home in Wasilla.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the Church on the Rock. The Revs. Scott Frerking and Rob Bynum will officiate.
Mr. Colebank was born May 6, 1969, in Forest Hill, Calif., and graduated from The Way of the Master School of Biblical Evangelism. He had four years of college and had majored in computer science. He was also a Gulf War veteran of the U.S. Army.
His military service brought him to Alaska in 1988, first to Fort Wainwright and then to Anchorage and eventually Wasilla.
He worked for the Daily News from May 1 to June 2 of this year, Cornerstone Christion School from November 2004 until November 2005, Kirby of Wasilla in 2003 and Fundamental Publishing.
He was a member of the Church on the Rock.
His family wrote: "Joseph enjoyed spending time with family, playing trombone, studying the Bible, Hebrew and Greek and Apologetics.
"Joe had two priorities in life: (1) Tell everyone about Jesus and spread the Gospel; (2) His family. In the months before his death, Joe and his family witnessed many miracles manifested by God. Joe's parents are reunited after over 15 years of separation; Joe reconnected with his sister who had been estranged for over 20 years. These are just two of the miracles God performed during Joe's battle with cancer. It was Joe's prayer to have more time to be on this earth to be a witness for Christ. Joe's desire was to have a good job to provide properly for his family. He did get that job shortly before his diagnosis. Joe's desire for his friends and family now ... is to celebrate his life because he is in heaven with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ."
He was preceded in death by his half-brother, David.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Colebank; children, Cassandra Colebank, Ashleigh Colebank, Rebecca Colebank, Cheryl Colebank and Joseph Colebank III; father, Joseph Colebank; mother, Charlene Colebank; and sister, Darlene Sumrall.
