Vidyadhar (alias Amit) Kshirsagar
Class of 1990
One of the happiest moments of my life was, in July of 1989, when I had the opportunity to participate in the annual Lip-Sync Contest, when I was in the 11th grade at Pioneer High School.
I have been a big Beatles fan, since the age of 4. For the contest I decided to perform my favorite Beatles song, "She Loves You".
I did so with the help of 3 stuffed animals (tweety bird - Paul), (the Pink Panther - George) and my large bear whom I had named as Freddy, who was placed high on a desk with a yellow basket with the label "The Beatles". I played the role of John in a blue jean jacket and blue long-sleeve shirt.
All of my stuffed animal friends were in proper Beatles costumes and wigs, all made out of multi-colored construction paper.
One of my classmates, Liza Chambers, even helped me to set up my Beatles stage. I waved to the audience after the performance, which was suggested by Pandit Prabhakar Deshkar, who was our special guest from India. I received a standing ovation from the audience as well as $25 and Honorable Mention.
Monica Ireland of the Class of 1989 told me that she thought my animals were cute.
A teacher had even shaken my hand.
Since my graduation from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in 1990, I have gone on the earn a Master of Arts Degree in Mathematics with a Concentration in Statistics from Eastern Michigan University. I have also published a book entitled, "My Obsession with The Beatles"
But, I still look upon my days at Pioneer with great fondness!
That i why.
