Graduation Year Class of 1987
Date of Passing Mar 01, 2016
About NEAL, Scott Scott Preston Neal passed away peacefully from his battle with lymphoma in Philadelphia on March 1, 2016, surrounded by his father, wife and children, at the age of 46. He was born on May 2, 1969 to James and Joy Neal in Sonoma, CA. Scott graduated from Piner High School in 1987 and attended the Santa Rosa Junior College. Scott is survived by his parents, Jim and Joy Neal, his wife and high school sweetheart Marla, his daughter Ashlin (21) and son Trent (12), and preceded in death by his brother Nicholas W. Neal. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Sue Oglesby, sister-in-law Teri (Rick) Rowland, brother-in-law Travis (Alex) Oglesby, one niece Meghan Rowland, three nephews Trevor Rowland, Tyris and Nolan Oglesby and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In 1988 Scott started working for Coggins Fence & Supply, and in 2004 for Ahlborn Fence & Steel. After excelling in the fence industry, Scott became the youngest instructor at the American Fence Association Field Training School. His favorite project was the honor of building the fence at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC in 2010 with fellow instructors from the American Fence Association. Scott's passion was the outdoors. In his youth, he loved playing tennis and basketball, mountain biking, rock climbing, snow skiing, water skiing, skim boarding, and more. He spent his weekends rock fishing off his kayak and abalone diving in the Pacific Ocean or hunting deer or fowl in Northern California. He especially enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and hunting with his dad, childhood friends, and coworkers. Scott also was deeply proud of his children. He passed his sense of humor on to them by watching movies and making many jokes, and his high standard of work onto them by always taking pride in his job, hobbies, and life. Scott was proud to have traveled to all corners of Sonoma County, through his adventures as a youth and building miles of fence in the region.
