About Me	I'm a musician and a middle school band director, as well as an electric and upright bassist always looking for a good gig. I grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh until I went off to study music in college at the University of Miami (1996-2000). In late 2001 I relocated to Charlotte, NC, and have been here ever since. I am currently teaching band at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. I'm in the process of rebuilding the band program there into something really great! Prior to working for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools, I taught K-12 music at Dore Academy (a small private school) from August 2006 until June 2010, where I grew and expanded their music program to include band, guitar, jazz band, recorders, and general music. I got married on June 25, 2011 to the most wonderful girl I could have ever hoped for, Caroline Gwaltney. I have a great dog named Rusty. I try to spend as much time as possible playing electric or upright bass on a gig somewhere. I also have a few private students. As a professional freelance bass player, I've had lots of experience. I've played with numerous jazz musicians, orchestras, rock bands, fusion projects, praise & worship bands, and musical theater productions over the years. My bass playing style is influenced mostly by jazz and rock. You can usually find me playing in the Charlotte area somewhere on weekends.
